Treatment of dual nationality holder as Korean national
- Dual nationality holders registered in the family register of ROK may apply for treatment as a Korean national only if they are younger than 22, and voluntarily requests to be treated as a Korean national.
- As an exception, men who could not choose their nationality due to unfinished military service may apply for treatment as a Korean national upon clearance of military service until nationality selection.
Dual nationality holder
- Those with nationalities of both Korea and another foreign country, and applies to the following:
- Those whose either parent was a Korean national at the time of their birth and was born in A country that operate jus soli; thus also acquiring nationality of the birthplace;
- Those given birth between a Korean national and a foreigner, and acquired nationality of the foreign parent due to related laws of that country.
- Those that acquired Korean nationality through recognition, naturalization, dependent acquisition, or reinstatement of nationality; but has postponed their renouncement of foreign nationality for unavoidable reason.
- Korean nationals that acquired foreign nationality under the provision of 15.2 of Nationality Act, and has reported the fact to the Minister of Justice within six months of the acquisition.
Place for filing of treatment as a Korean national
- Dual nationality holders that intend to be treated as a Korean national must apply for "As-Korean national treatment" to local Immigration Office with related documents.
Applicant of "As-Korean national treatment"
- "As-Korean national treatment" application must be filed by the applicant. However, if applicants are younger than 18, those with parental rights may apply in proxy. Alternatively, in absence of such person for reasons such as overseas residence, any of the following may apply instead:
- Direct ascendant;
- Brother or sister who is legally adult.
- Brother or sister of a direct ascendant.
- Actual supporter/provider.

- Those whose either parent was a Korean national at the time of their birth and was born in A country that operate jus soli; thus also acquiring nationality of the birthplace;

- An Application for "As-Korean national treatment"

- A Copy of family register
- A Copy of birth certificate or citizen's certificate
- Documents that certifies that either parent was a Korean nationals at the time of birth, such as the copy of citizenship or ROK passport of the Korean parent (in the event that such parent gained foreign nationality after the applicant’s birth, a copy of such citizen's certificate).
- Those given birth between a Korean national and a foreigner, and acquired nationality of the foreign parent due to related laws of that country

- A Copy of family register
- Documents that can certify the possession of foreign nationality such as copy of foreign passport
- Those that acquired Korean nationality through recognition, naturalization, dependent acquisition, or reinstatement of nationality; but has postponed their renouncement of foreign nationality for unavoidable reason
- A Passport
- An Application for "As-Korean national treatment"

- A Copy of family register
- A Copy of foreign passport
- A Copy of certificate for reservation of foreign nationality acquisition (limited to legal adults according to the civil laws of ROK)
- Korean nationals that acquired foreign nationality under the provision of 15.2 of Nationality Act, and has reported the fact to the Minister of Justice within six months of the acquisition.
